Family photography – West Sussex, Kent & Surrey

Conjure up a couple of hours spent on a lovely weekend in your favourite spot with the kids and of course your dog……add into this that you will have your happy times captured with style for you to remember as the children continue to grow faster than you can ever imagine…..

I’m not an invasion to your afternoon; the kids love me, you’re proud, even the dog is my best friend. You know how it’s going to flow in advance…. we’re dressed for fun but also to look cool in our photos – memories that you want to blend with the environment and the season so that you guys take centre stage, but remain classic and timeless as your life moves on.

I am a multi-award winning, qualified Master West Sussex photographer and I because I am fortunate enough to live on the tri- county border of Sussex, Kent and Surrey, I am fortunate to be able to offer families  a range of photoshoot venues to suit them.

This family also had a German Shepherd Puppy who given lockdown was now 6 months old and growing by the day!  Puppies move so fast so you need a particularly skilled photographer to capture them at their best and create images for you that are perfect for the walls of your home. If you do have pets, I’d encourage you to bring them along.  They provide a great distraction for the kids of course, but they are such a big part of your family – why leave them at home?

This family chose Bedgebury Forest in Kent as the location for their photoshoot as this had always been a very special place for them to spend time. Dad had even brought his Shepherd here when he was young and chose the location above specifically for this shot with this is mind.

Bedgebury is a wonderful location because there is so much on offer in terms of backdrops for photography – rich, varied trees, beautiful lakes, vast landscapes.  It is also great because it has walking trails, lots of natural play equipment for the children dotted around, a stunning cafe overlooking the water and it is well known for its bike trails.

We met at Bedgebury towards the end of the summer afternoon as the sun was starting to drop and the scenary was turning golden.  The family were flexible on the day as sometimes lots of cloud means we may as well shoot a bit earlier, but this day had been very sunny.  It was late summer so we were shooting by 4pm but in the heart of June my shoots may start at 6 pm.

If your children are very young and the evening sounds like a nightmare, sometimes a very early morning session is preferable in the heart of those summer days.

 Mum came very well prepared with snacks for the kids and a bribe or two that may have related to a possible Fish and Chips for the journey home!

The family were so thrilled with their images from the session and found it hard to choose afterwards which to order!
